Matt Rutherford talk about the magic SEA 1

Good morning dear readers !

I'm collecting all the citations of the magic word SEA, that Matt Rutherford, the MacGyver of the Seas, has done since the beginning of his odyssey. Someone wanna help me?

Read the first ones !

Good, excellent winds Big Matt !

1 - I used the 110nm trip down the Chesapeake Bay as a
SEA trial and found several things that needed modification. June 15, 2011

2 - It was such a challenge to raise the money and rebuild the boat (mostly by myself) that being out to SEA is a huge pressure off my shoulders.  June 15, 2011

3 - I know most modern sailor’s would frown upon adding so much weight to a boat, but for hundreds and hundreds of years stretching back before the days of the Greek’s, sailors have loaded there boats heavy with cargo – boats less SEA worthy then my Albin Vega 27.  June 21, 2011

4 - Yesterday I was enjoying a nice day of following SEAS, thinking to myself that this was the first day in 1,000 miles where the wind was aft of the beam. June 29, 2011

5 - Simon runs a boat delivery business (Endurance Yacht Deliveries) and has done 350,000 miles at SEA.  Over the last 5 years I’ve sailed over 12,000 miles with Simon and he has been a bit of a mentor (If I’mm Daniel-son, he’s Mr Meogi) This isn’t the first time Simon has helped me when I was in a jam at SEA (It’s a long story).  June 29, 2011

6 - Its been a long time since I’ve been to SEA world and I forgot they could get so big.  July 4, 2011

7 - So I’m currently sitting on a parachute SEA anchor 20 miles off Newfoundland waiting for the boat to meet me with my new watermaker.  July 4, 2011

8 -  I’ve set my parachute SEA anchor three times (for pratice) and have been making minor repairs. July 7, 2011

9 - I did have one interesting day – I was going to pull my parachute SEA anchor one morning so I started to motor over to the trip line, I heard the engine make a different noise and saw what looked like smoke was billowing out of my cabin. July 7, 2011

10 - I love having 35-40kts of wind behind me – it makes for a fun fast day. But beating into the SEAS sucks – and everything got wet.   July 13, 2011
