- Boa notícia, tenho uma boa notícia a dar-lhes.

- Entrevistei a primeira* navegadora solitária que tive o prazer de
encontrar em minha vida.

- O nome dela é Eva Kullgren. 

- Após a agradável conversa que tivemos, concluí, o que já "suspeitava", as mulheres podem mesmo velejar muito melhor que os homens. 

- Mas a sueca Eva Kullgren tem muitas outras qualidades, além de ser boa navegante.

- Quais?

- Escreve, aplica massagens, é atriz, realiza conferências e filosofa, além de dizer, sem se dar conta, versos em prosa, o tempo todo.

- Sua otimista filosofia de vida pode ser resumida numa frase curta, que também é título do seu primeiro livro "O impossível é apenas um fantasma em sua mente."

- Sua entrevista vai em inglês, mas inglês é mais fácil que português, não é verdade?

- Eva pretende daqui de Cabo Verde velejar, como sempre em solitário, até o nosso amado Brasil.

ENTREVISTA

Fernando -  Why do you sail alone at sea?

Eva - It was not my intention to begin with. I planned to sail with a friend but when she didn't want to continue with the plans I decided to go anyway. Now I like it very much and don't want company, because I feel very relaxed and content with myself.

Fernando - What is your big pleasure when you are sailing alone?

Eva - The total awareness of the environment, the sea and I. Also I feel very happy when I reach the coast and see the first signs of land again.

Fernando - Have you had a very dangerous situation at sea?

Eva - Crossing from Canarian island to Cap Verde I felt very afraid and thought I will die. My boat was taking in water and I was afraid we would sink, but luckily I found the leak and was able to plug it. Now everything is wet but I am not scared any longer.

Fernando - Do you have any special project travelling around in the sea?

Eva - When I started I never could imagine I would get this far, but all the time I think “a little more”. Now I have a project: to pick up plastic garbage on the way to Brazil, to show the people that everything they trow into the ocean will contaminate the sea.

Fernando - What was the last travel?

Eva - Stockholm, Rivers of Europe, Black Sea, Mediterranean, Atlantic and finally Gran Canary to Mindelo.

Fernando - Do you have any sailing heroe that inspired you?

Eva - I like a Swedish lady called Aina Cederblom. I did not read much literature about sailing.

Fernando - If you were a creature of the sea what would you like to be?

Eva - A turtle.

Fernando - What is the sea for you?

Eva - Imnensity, eternal, full of surprises.

Fernando - Can you give three advises to a beginner singlehanded sailor?

Eva - First -  When you think about reefing, reef at once.
Second - It is not you against the sea. It is you and the sea.
Third - Have patience and everything has a solution.

Fernando - Is there something more beautiful in the world than a sailboat?

Eva - Yes, the world itself, mother Earth and her beautiful nature and creatures.

* Disse acima que a Eva Kullgren foi a primeira velejadora solitária que encontrei em minha vida, mas lembrei-me depois que conversei com a britânica Samantha Davies em Sables d'Olonne, França, durante 30 segundos. Tempo suficiente pra entregar-lhe uma bandeirola em cetim vermelho-sangue-brilhante-da-Estrela-d'Alva e dizer-lhe que um dos seus auto retratos, foi minha foto predileta dentre todas que vi durante a sexta edição da Vendée Globe.
