Leave Lake Tekapo driving NW, and turn right just out of town when you see the signs to Mt John observatory and Lake Alexandrina. After approx. 6km you will pass the

turnoff to Mt John observatory. Keep going and follow the signs to Lake Alexandrina (approx. 7km from Mt John turnoff).
